McCall Service, Inc., A Family Tradition...
Bryan Cooksey, Jr. invested more than just time and money in McCall Service, Inc., he invested his three sons. Bryan, David, and John Cooksey now hold the reigns at the company their father grew and nurtured until August of 1998. "As Chairman of the board, dad still attends quarterly board meetings but his efforts now are focused on traveling with mom (Jane Cooksey) and spending time with their 15 grandchildren," said David.

The eldest of the sons, Bryan, joined McCall Service, Inc. in 1988 after graduating from West Point. At West Point he concentrated his studies in the field of nuclear engineering. Bryan served in the Army for 5 years where he reached the rank of Captain. He worked in the commercial division providing pest control service for three years. Bryan then rose through the ranks as Jacksonville Branch Manager, then Regional Sales Manager, and finally Operations Manager. Bryan became the President of McCall Service Inc. in 1998. "The whole experience here has been rewarding and bittersweet at the same time," said Bryan. "Dad was willing to let go and that is the hardest transition an entrepreneur faces. He was willing to let us make mistakes, just not the same one twice." Bryan's personal motto is "surround yourself with great people and treat your employees like family."

David Cooksey graduated from the US Air Force Academy. He spent six years in the Air Force achieving the rank of Captain and earning a Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. David started with the company working in the lawn care division. He also spent time doing termite work, pest control and sales. He was then promoted to Jacksonville Branch Manager. Currently David is a partner and Vice President. "We grew up with strong family ties and a powerful entrepreneur spirit...going away and seeing the other opportunities made joining McCalls seem that much better," said David. "The most important thing I learned from dad was to take care of the customers and everything else will take care of itself."

The youngest brother and first to obtain a "bug degree" was John Cooksey. John graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Science. Upon graduating from FSU he worked as an analytical chemist for Savannah Labs. As he worked John earned his Masters in Entomology from the University of Florida. He joined McCall Service at the Neptune Beach office in 1994 as a management trainee working with the lawn division. He was then promoted to manager of the Neptune Beach office and then to manager of the Jacksonville office. John is currently a partner and Vice President. John has recruited University of Florida classmate, Wayne Grush, as Training Director and Quality Assurance Manager. Besides John, there are now six entomologists on staff at McCall. "Dad is an advocate for community involvement. Through his encouragement we are active in several different associations," said John. Some of the associations the Cooksey's belong to are: Rotary Club, Florida Pest Management Association, National Pest Management Association, United Way, Boy Scouts of America, and the Florida Agriculture Leadership Program.
